very congested after surgery.
2.
Expect a small
amount of oozing out the front of your nose or down the back of your
throat.
3.
Tape a gauze
drip pad under your nose and change as often as
necessary.
4.
Do not blow
your nose.
5.
Sneeze with
your mouth open.
6.
No heavy
lifting or straining.
7.
Call the
doctor if bleeding becomes persistent or
increases.
8.
Take
antibiotics as prescribed
9.
No aspirin,
ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve or Advil. Use only regular Tylenol or the
prescription pain medicine given to you at the time of
surgery.
10.
There are
absorbable dressings in your nose. If they come out, do not worry
about it. Crusts that come out may look like plastic or gelatin. You
DO NOT need to call to let a doctor know about
this.
11.
Begin saline
irrigation to your nose 48 hours after surgery. Use this 4-6 times a
day. We have found that Neilmed Sinus Rinse works very well. This is
available at a pharmacy.
12.
At night, coat
the inside of both nostrils with Ayr Saline
gel.
13.
Return to see
the doctor 1 week after surgery. He will remove crusts inside your
nose at that time. You will breathe much better after that
procedure. Further instructions will be given at that
time.
